FLIPSIDE #1 y 2 (USA)

ENGLISH NOW!!!!
A 25 cent zine!!! I knew it! I know that everything in these time is expensive, hahahah because I didn't live in 77 in order to pay 25 cents for a zine. Naaa... forget what im saying. I just killed my ignorance by reading the purest form of old school zine named FLIPSIDE, DIY format. Reading this zine makes me want to have a typing machine. Fuck microsoft word, fuck photoshop and coreldraw.. I WANT A TYPING MACHINE!
I get this delicious feeling reading every single part of the zine, the keyboard of a typing machine are so hard that I can imagine the efford they made typing and the sound of TAS TAS TAS TAS "PLIM" that the machine made in the making of FLIPSIDE magazine. Originally from Lost Angeles, USA, written in 1977.. those were the days, weren't they?
Their staff was formed by Al, Larry Lash, Pooch, Tory, and X-8, and contain the following: information about shows, album/singles reviews, and interviews.
Some of the bands that made a name for them selfs in the zine were, Joan Jett, the Germs, Blondie, Sex Pistols, Ramones, and others. It made me laugh when I read some of the articles, I didnt understand well but I think they talk about a store call Grannys, a store that sold punk clothing, and the the zine staff makes a little story about them saying about it, and made it sound ironic, saying that how could they sell it for such high prices when punk is suppose to be poor, and that punk does not have a price, and all the shit that has to do with the fashion.
Tory explains in the zine that a fat capitalist man driving his cadillac and smoking a fag could be making more money through the lower class punks, and if we want a tshirt, instead of buying an expensive one at Grannys, why not just make it out selfs DIY style. This reflects me alot, ahahaha.
On the album review section they talk about the Clash in a very instresting way, put by their own words, and i can imagine the whole staff of the zine infront of a cassete player stereo, putting the tapes in and pressin on the play button, and them concentration on the CLash songs. While the music plays the staff comments on what they are hearing. I liked when they said: "it has a mixture of jamaican sound with british noise". Crazy huh? and to think about this was the beginning of the 2-tone movement, maybe it was the first comments to this new style that was forming in that generation.
On for the A side: Janie jones, remote control, im so bored with the USA, white riot, whast my name, deny, london's burning. On the B side: career opportunities, cheat, protex blue, police and theives, 48 hrs garage land. Every song that plays everyone makes a point of it, and so on thats how they review for the other bands as well.
The zine ends out of nowhere, or im not sure if im missing some pages. The same with the second volume, I dont think its complete. But it really intrigues me the beginning of punk rock and the people that made part of that era. From what i understand, flipside continued to the 80's with more than 8000 zines pressed, and rotated around the world with alot of information. Since they came to an end, they left what punk was in those days.
Here's their site where you can find more info about them. http://flipsidefanzine.com/
